XIII International Conference on Hadron Spectroscopy
November 29 - December 4, 2009
Florida State University
Conference participants are requested to familiarize themselves with visa requirements well in advance of the conference. The following are some useful sources on visa requirements:
http://www7.nationalacademies.org/visas/ : National Academies International Visitors Office
http://travel.state.gov/visa/visa_1750.html : general visa information from U.S. Department of State
The majority of you will be able to use the "Visa Waiver Program." Details on this can be found at http://travel.state.gov/visa/tempvisitors_novisa_waiver.html, including a listing of the (35) countries that currently participate in the VWP.
Please note: Effective January 9, 2009, foreign travelers to the U.S. intending to use the VWP will be unable to enter the U.S. unless they have been "pre-authorized" by the new online "Electronic System for Travel Authorization" (ESTA). Please visit http://www.cbp.gov/xp/cgov/travel/id_visa/esta/ for information about the system. Travelers may log into ESTA as far in advance of their travel as possible but it is recommended no less than 72 hours before departure.
For those of you that can not use the "Visa Waiver Program." and will need a visa, we provide a Hadron 2009 Invitation Letter on request. If you need such a letter, please send request to:
hadron2009@hadron.physics.fsu.edu.
Please include the following info in your request email: your full name, date of birth, citizenship, country of birth, and e-mail address.
If you did not receive your invitation by e-mail within a few days after your request, or if you wish to receive a hard-copy via regular mail, please send an email to the Hadron2009 Conference Secretary and this will be arranged (please note that printing out the version you get by e-mail should be much faster than waiting for a hardcopy with regular mail though).
We recommend that you try to arrange your visa as soon as possible. As a reference, the current US visa processing/interview time can be viewed at http://travel.state.gov/visa/temp/wait/tempvisitors_wait.php.
Do please note though, as it says on the webpage, that the quoted times does not include time required for administrative processing, and that it may thus take you considerably longer to get your visa.
